As a local florist in Rochester, NH and as a mainstay small business in the downtown for 91 years, we count our many blessings and we’re especially grateful to our community this time of year.
Dating back to the days of our founder Joshua Studley beginning in 1928, followed by our predecessors Pieter and Betty Jane Meulenbroek, we have always known that our success is rooted in the good graces of our community. Today, as the second-generation of the Meulenbroek family business, we still lead by their example to appreciate and reinvest in the abundance it provides.
A recent article via the City of Rochester, mentions this long tradition of giving back. Most recently, we partnered with Rochester Rise Up and the Rochester Police Department as part of a nationwide floral industry initiative to Petal It Forward . We collaborated to share some local love by surprising downtown residents and visitors with free flowers, simply to make people happy.
We would like to officially thank Rochester PD Community Engagement Officer Todd Danie and Todd Radict of Rochester Rise Up for joining us in this feel good effort. It was rewarding to share in creating joy and experiencing joy in return, out on the streets of Rochester with one common agenda – simply putting a smile on the faces of our neighbors.
Today more than ever, it is important to recognize that when we support our neighborhood businesses and organizations, we help to sustain the fabric of our community. Like any relationship in life, our hometown is the product of our collective, conscious decisions that shape it.
As you count your blessings this Thanksgiving, count your community among them. Maybe make a pledge to find even one way to give back this holiday season. Shop local, give to a charity, help someone in need or simply share some kind words about why you are proud to call Rochester your home.
We thank you all for another wonderful year in Rochester and the privilege of being your local florist, garden center and landscape company.
