Lawn Care
A lush green and well cared for lawn can be yours! Trust Studley’s for your lawn care needs, whether you want a traditional or organic approach to lawn fertilization. Our traditional lawn care program incorporates a four step program that fertilizes your lawn, targets weeds and treats for common pests. It includes the following:
- Early Spring – Balanced fertilizer and pre-emergent crabgrass control
- Spring – Balanced fertilizer and broadleaf weed control
- Summer – Balanced fertilizer and grub control
- Late Fall – Balanced fertilizer and lime
Our organic approach to lawn care requires a personalized plan for your soil and yard conditions. Please call us for information on organic programs for your yard. We look forward to working with you to achieve an organic lawn.
Compost
Organic Gardening
The use of compost in topdressing programs for lawns, sports fields, and golf courses has become a common and generally accepted practice. It has been adopted by those practicing “organic” methods, as well as traditional turf managers. The use of compost has resulted in significant reductions in the use of fertilizer, irrigation water, and over seeding. Compost applications are fully compatible with integrated pest management (IPM) programs that seek to reduce use of fertilizer and pesticides.
Composts support large and diverse populations of microorganisms. When properly made, the high temperatures associated with the composting process will kill plant pathogens as well as weed seeds. As the compost cools, it will be readily colonized by microbes that can grow at normal soil temperatures. These microbes play an important role in inhibiting plant pathogens and suppressing various turf diseases. As a result compost applications have been repeatedly associated with reduced turf disease.
Build Your Soil
Feed the Roots
Studley’s offers compost topdressing as an addition to our traditional lawn care program or as a separate service. Incorporating compost with a spring or fall core aeration will build your soil as well as feed roots and result in a visibly healthier lawn. We recommend compost for everyone!
If you want to apply lawn care products yourself we can also help you to determine how much compost or traditional fertilizer to use and deliver it directly to your home.

garden maintenance
Your gardens deserve their own spring cleaning each year. All of your plants, trees, shrubs and perennials will benefit from added attention each spring. It is important for plant health to clean out leaves and debris which may have accumulated the preceding fall and winter, and to prune and re-mulch the gardens if necessary. Our landscaping team offers complete garden maintenance including mulching, pruning, fertilizing, transplanting, weeding and renovation.
Early summer is an ideal time to plant annuals for color all summer long. We grow all of our annuals on-site in our greenhouses. This enables us to offer a broad assortment of colors and varieties. Additionally, we can maintain your garden during the spring and summer with weeding, fertilizing and lawn installation. Call us today to schedule your FREE landscape consultation.
