The word we are hearing to describe the feel for wedding events this year is “ethereal,” which is defined as, “extremely delicate and light in a way that seems too perfect for this world.” As applied to floral selections, ethereal translates to choices we’re seeing in more softer tones with fewer bold colors. The emphasis is on nature with whites, neutrals, greens and grasses as the dominate materials.
Minimalistic, simplistic and loose arrangements are on trend. The use of dried flowers and wild flowers and wild, long-stem bouquets with flowing ribbons are common requests.
Air signs are also full of idealism, wanting to make the world a better place and sustainability will be a big focus for 2020 weddings. From up-cycled décor to low-waste catering, look for options that allow for reduced environmental impact. Ask your floral consultant about repurposing arrangements from ceremony to reception or stylizing bouquets, wreath centerpieces and arrangements with flowers or plants that can be dried or gifted at the end of the day.
